| Hi There!
Welcome to the tenth issue of the Basket Biz Cafe Newsletter!
I'm so glad to have you as a member of our newsletter readers.
Just a note here, if you see crazy characters in the text, it's
to help this newsletter get through the spam filters to reach
your inbox instead of your junk mail box, I really do know how
to spell! The word S~A~L~E is especially vulnerable.
Editor's Note
Valentine's Day Almost Here and We
Have A Sale! Brent
and I have been busy getting our youngest daughter off to college!
Yeah, she's gone now and it's really quiet around here. She graduated
one semester early from high school and just couldn't wait to
get on off Texas State. We're really proud of her, she'll be playing
on the volleyball team, so next fall we'll be doing a lot of driving
trying to get to some of her games.
Because it's so quiet around here, that means some good things
are in the works for you. Yeah, I won't have near as many things
I have to get done so that means I'll have more time to pour into
my business. I'm looking at adding a lot of information to the
website and hopefully building the readership of the newsletter.
Later in this issue you'll read about something new I'm adding
to our blog that will not only help me but you as well, so keep
reading. And most importantly, I'll also have more time to analyse
inventory and run SALES!!! Yay!! Keep your eye open for our monthly
sales, I'll keep you updated with this newsletter email.
Well, Valentine's Day is coming up and as everyone knows, that's
all last-minute sales. I wonder why that is? Do you think it's
because historically the majority of gifts purchased for this
holiday are flowers and flowers need to be purchased last minute
in order to be fresh? Maybe this has formed a habit in the gift-buyer's
mind? Maybe it's because men usually do their own gift-buying
for this holiday and men as a whole don't think much about gift-giving?
I don't know, but believe me, most Valentine's Day gifts are purchased
either on Valentine's Day or the day before, so BE READY!
And those of you who have waited to make your inventory purchases
are really lucky, we have some of our Valentine's Day stuff ON
SALE!! Be sure to check out the Sale Section of the catalog at
our website, here's the link:

New More Compact Newsletter
The last time I sent out our newsletter I
mentioned I might be making some changes. Well, I've thought it
through and I think a more compact version of the newsletter will
better suit everyone.
As it stands, Gift Basket Wholesale Supply has not only a newsletter
but a blog and a business articles section on the website. The
amount of information I can give you is endless but sending it
out in so many different ways can be confusing. So, I've come
up with a plan.
In the future, this newsletter will be mailed whenever we start
a new sale, get new inventory items, or have an offer we think
you may be interested in taking a look at. You'll still get at
least one newsletter each month as I plan to put up a new sale
at least once each month.
If we have business articles that could apply to a gift basket
business, we will post them in the articles section of the website
and if it happens to coincide with a newsletter mailing, we'll
mention and link to the articles in the newsletter. I'll probably
make a post on the blog as well that new articles have been posted.
Our blog will be used for up to the minute info we learn about
or just to let people know what's going on, like, I'll probably
post on the blog that the newletter went out today and that our
sale started. The blog may also be used for a quick article or
to let you know there's a good post on a message board somewhere.
I also want to start using the blog to help my readers, keep reading
and I'll tell you more about that later in the newsletter.
And lastly, sometime this spring I plan on setting up an area
of the site where we will post gift basket ideas. Until that section
is set up, I'll probably just post them on the blog.

Give Us A Pic, We'll Give You A Link
I'd love to show YOUR creations on OUR website. If you make
a basket that includes any of our products and want me to post
a picture of it on our blog, just send me an email and attach
the pic. Also send me your full name, your company name, your
city and state and the URL to your website and I'll post it on
the blog linking to your website. This will only be available
to those who are members of our newsletter.
Now you ask, "what's in it for me?". Well, if you don't
already know, search engines, particularly Google, use "link
popularity" to rank the sites they have indexed. Now everyone
knows the higher you are in Google, the better your traffic will
be and the more sales you'll get.
Well, when Google determines your link popularity, they take
a few things into consideration. First they look at how many other
websites link to YOUR site. Next they determine the type of links
that link to you, are they links from other popular pages or just
links from pages that no one knows about. Also, are they one-way
links or did you just "trade" links with another site,
and of course, one-way links are better.
So, what's the benefit for you to have your website link on our
blog? Well, first off, it will be a one-way link and Google will
give that link more credit than one you traded with a friend.
Second, Google assigns what they call "PageRank" to
every page they have indexed. It's a ranking from 1-10 that's
assigned when they analyse your pages. Getting a PageRank at all
is a feat in and of itself and anyone with a PageRank of 5 or
6 is probably on page one for their search term. In other words,
getting a 5 or 6 is outstanding. Well, we're not quite a 5 or
a 6, but our blog's homepage is a 3. And our website homepage
is a 4 and that's pretty good. So having a link on a page that
even has a PageRank will help you more than having a link on a
page that doesn't ~ and we're a 3.
Lastly, ever so often, I will choose a basket to be on our homepage
(remember, it has a PageRank of 4). Of course, those baskets will
have to use a lot of our product and they will have to be exceptional,
but I'm sure it will happen.
Now, I do reserve the right to not post any baskets, and I reserve
the right to only post the baskets I want to post and when I want
to post them. So don't expect that if you send your pic it will
automatically get posted, it may not get posted for 6 months,
it may not get posted at all. I reserve that right. But chances
are good, I'll post it and you'll get a link. Also, be sure you
send a good picture, if I can't make the pic look good, I won't
post it. And one more thing, I won't be notifying anyone as to
whether or not their basket will get posted or when or if. I don't
have time to do that. I'll just get the pics and post them when
I want, whenever I want.
If you're interested, send your pics as an attachment and your
info to blogbaskets@giftbasketwholesalesupply.com.
